The initiative is part of a broader movement aimed at promoting local island tourism and encouraging visitors to experience the Maldives beyond its famed luxury resorts.
The launch event, held on the island, featured vibrant performances by local students and youth, including traditional music and dance that highlighted the island’s cultural richness. This celebration set an enthusiastic tone for the year ahead, reflecting Dharavandhoo’s community spirit and pride in its heritage.
Situated within Baa Atoll, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, Dharavandhoo Island is renowned for its proximity to Hanifaru Bay, where visitors can enjoy world-class snorkelling experiences alongside manta rays and whale sharks. The island also offers a gateway to authentic Maldivian culture, providing a rich blend of nature, adventure, and hospitality.
