President Mohamed Muizzu has announced that electricity and water bills will be discounted during Ramadan, ensuring that households do not face higher utility costs during the holy month.
Speaking during a visit to Kudahuvadhoo in Dhaalu Atoll, the president assured residents that the government would maintain electricity and water bills at the same level as other months. A similar measure was implemented last year.
“We will give discounts on electricity and water bills this Ramadan as we did last Ramadan. We will continue to do the same,” President Muizzu said during the meeting.
In addition to the utility bill discounts, the government is distributing a case of canned tuna to every household in the country as part of its Ramadan assistance efforts.
