HDC Warns Against Unauthorised Events and Fairs in Hulhumalé

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has cautioned the public to ensure organisers of events and fairs in Hulhumalé have proper authorisation, stating that the corporation will not be held responsible for any financial losses if stalls are purchased without its approval.

In a statement, HDC said decisions to host events are being made without permission and that stalls are being sold to participants despite the lack of authorisation. The corporation urged individuals and businesses to verify whether organisers have obtained the necessary permits before making any payments.

HDC added that this information can be confirmed through its Permits and Services section by calling 3356112.

“We publicly announce that HDC will not be held responsible for any financial losses that may be incurred through the release and purchasing of stalls for an event without HDC authorization,” the statement read.

The corporation also reiterated that it has temporarily suspended the release of land for fairs, night markets, and roadside bazaars from 14 May onwards.
