Vessels at North Harbour Zone A to Temporarily Use Jetty No 1 During Road Works

Vessels currently docked at Zone A of the North Harbour will temporarily relocate to Jetty No 1, located in front of the Maldives Monetary Authority, according to Maldives Ports Limited.

The temporary arrangement comes as the second phase of works to widen and modernise Boduthakurufaanu Magu in northern Malé gets under way. The construction phase is scheduled to continue for three months from the 8th of this month.

MPL said vessels using Jetty No 1 during this period will not be charged any fees. Under the revised arrangements, vessels will be allowed to enter and remain in the area with prior permission from the North Harbour.

Approaches to the quay wall will follow the existing Zone A queue order. Vessels will be permitted to remain at the quay wall for a maximum of 10 days. Those seeking to stay beyond this period will be required to reapply and will only be allowed to approach the quay wall again in line with the established queue system.

MPL said the decision was taken to ensure fair and equal access to harbour services for all vessels during the construction period. The company also confirmed that while operational changes will apply to Zone A, there will be no changes to procedures for vessels operating in Zones B and C of the North Harbour.
