Maldives Issues Travel Advisory Ahead of Bangladesh Parliamentary Elections

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a travel advisory for Maldivians planning to travel to Bangladesh, as the country prepares for its parliamentary election scheduled for February 12.

In its advisory, the Foreign Ministry noted that Bangladesh will temporarily suspend the issuance of visas on arrival from January 15 to February 15. The measure has been introduced as part of enhanced security arrangements linked to the upcoming elections.

Travellers intending to visit Bangladesh during this period have been advised to obtain the mandatory visa prior to arrival. The ministry stated that visas can be arranged through the High Commission of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, located in Hulhumale’.

The advisory cautioned individuals to apply well in advance to avoid travel disruptions and ensure a smooth journey. For further information on visa requirements or related enquiries, travellers have been advised to contact the High Commission directly by phone or email.
