Ooredoo Maldives Begins 2026 Digital Literacy Sessions Focused on Senior Citizens

Ooredoo Maldives has begun its 2026 digital literacy programme with a series of introductory sessions held at Israhvehinge Naadhee, placing a specific focus on senior citizens who are less familiar with digital tools and services.

The sessions are designed to address practical gaps in digital access among the elderly, covering basic smartphone use, essential online services, and everyday digital applications. The programme aims to help participants stay connected with family, access information independently, and navigate an increasingly digital public and private service environment with greater confidence.

Ooredoo has been running digital literacy initiatives since 2018, gradually expanding its outreach to different communities across the Maldives. The continuation of the programme reflects a broader effort to narrow generational digital divides at a time when access to services, communication, and information is becoming more dependent on digital platforms.

By tailoring the pace and content of the sessions to senior participants, the initiative seeks to improve digital inclusion in a demographic that is often left out of technology-focused development efforts. The programme also aligns with wider national discussions on digital transformation, where inclusivity has become a growing concern alongside rapid technological adoption.
