Dhiraagu and SparkHub have announced the Maldives’ first Generative AI Hackathon, an initiative aimed at supporting startups, entrepreneurs, and innovators to develop practical, AI driven solutions.
The hackathon, titled GenAI Hack 2026, is designed to bring together young innovators to explore how generative AI can shorten development cycles, allowing teams to move from concept to a live product within 48 hours using AI powered tools and platforms. Participants will take part in intensive, curated sessions led by experienced AI practitioners, with hands on guidance covering ideation, development, deployment, and product launch.
Unlike conventional hackathons, the event will follow an open category format, with teams required to develop entirely new solutions during the hackathon itself. A key feature of the programme is its emphasis on live product delivery. Teams must publicly launch their product during the event before final pitching, with judges assessing fully functional, publicly accessible products rather than slide presentations or conceptual demonstrations.
The initiative is led by Dhiraagu and SparkHub, with Synetecs joining as a co partner.
Mirshan Hassan, Director of Brand and Marketing Communications at Dhiraagu, said the initiative reflects the company’s focus on enabling hands on adoption of rapidly advancing generative AI technologies and supporting community driven innovation in real world settings.
Hussain Jinan, Chief Executive Officer and Co founder of SparkHub, said the hackathon was designed to reflect how founders globally are using AI to overcome skill gaps and accelerate product development, moving beyond traditional hackathon formats.
GenAI Hack 2026 is scheduled to take place from 6 to 8 February 2026. The event is open to teams of three to five members, with participation capped and slots allocated on a first come, first served basis.
