BML to Centralise Umrah Dollar Sales at Malé Customer Service Centre

Bank of Maldives will introduce a dedicated dollar purchase service for Umrah pilgrims travelling with registered Umrah groups during the Ramadan period, beginning from 8 February 2026.

The service will operate from the Bank’s Customer Service Centre on Ameenee Magu on banking days between 8 and 26 February, with operating hours from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. Access to the service will be managed through a token system issued at the venue on the day of collection.

Under the arrangement, only travellers listed in the official Umrah traveller lists submitted by Umrah groups will be eligible to purchase dollars through the dedicated counter. Pilgrims are required to present their original national identity card or passport at the time of purchase. Where a third party is purchasing on behalf of a traveller, the representative must also present their original identification.

The bank has set a purchase limit of up to USD 500 per person, with customers permitted to purchase dollars for up to five travellers in a single transaction. Payments will be accepted exclusively through Bank of Maldives–issued debit cards.

Pilgrims travelling independently will continue to use the bank’s existing USD Booking Portal, with dollar collection available at the departure hall of Velana International Airport.

During the service period, Umrah-related dollar sales will not be available at other Bank of Maldives branches in the Greater Malé region. Customers residing outside the region may continue to access dollar purchase services at their nearest branches.
