Maldivian has inaugurated its seaplane services to Alifu Alifu Atoll, Thoddoo, aiming to enhance accessibility and support the island’s tourism sector. The new route is expected to improve travel convenience for residents and visitors while increasing Thoddoo’s appeal as a tourist destination.
In a social media post, Minister of Transport, Mohamed Ameen, emphasised the significance of the service, noting that improved connectivity would contribute to tourism development and facilitate smoother travel for the local community.
The launch ceremony, held last Thursday, featured cultural performances and was officiated by Minister of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage, Adam Naseer Ibrahim, a native of Thoddoo. The event was attended by senior government officials, Transport Minister Ameen, representatives from Maldivian Aero, and members of the local community.
To mark the introduction of the service, Maldivian has introduced promotional fares for Maldivians, with one-way tickets priced at MVR 799. The new seaplane route is expected to strengthen links between Thoddoo and Malé, supporting both local mobility and the island’s expanding tourism industry.
