A new benchmark has been set in the Maldives’ property advisory sector, with Peppercorn Realty becoming the first firm in the country to be regulated by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. The achievement introduces internationally recognised valuation standards into a market that has historically relied on locally developed practices.
RICS is a global professional body that establishes and enforces standards in valuation, real estate and construction. Regulation by RICS is widely regarded as a measure of compliance with strict ethical, technical and governance requirements. By securing this status, Peppercorn aligns its operations with global valuation frameworks applied in major financial centres.
The development is likely to carry implications beyond the firm itself. Internationally recognised regulation can strengthen confidence among lenders, auditors and foreign investors who rely on independent valuations for financial reporting, lending decisions and regulatory submissions. As cross-border investment and financial structuring become more complex, adherence to globally accepted standards may become increasingly relevant for the Maldivian market.
In addition to the firm’s regulation, Managing Director Shazim has become the first RICS Registered Valuer in the Maldives. The designation reflects individual accreditation under RICS requirements, which include competence, independence and adherence to professional ethics.
Peppercorn provides valuation and property advisory services across a range of areas, including financial reporting, lending and mortgage valuations, investment and development assessments, transaction-related valuations, and general property valuations covering residential, commercial and resort assets.
