
The Non-Resident High Commissioner of Singapore to the Maldives, Soo Kok Leng, paid a farewell call on Minister of Foreign Affairs Iruthisham Adam yesterday, as he concludes his tenure.
The meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where Minister Iruthisham conveyed appreciation for High Commissioner Leng’s contributions to relations between the Maldives and Singapore during his term. She also thanked the Government of Singapore for its continued support and assistance to the Maldives.
During the meeting, Minister Iruthisham noted the close cooperation between the Maldives and Singapore, including collaboration on issues concerning Small Island States. The Maldives and Singapore have maintained longstanding ties across diplomatic, development and multilateral areas, with both countries sharing common interests as small island nations.
High Commissioner Leng expressed appreciation to the Government and people of the Maldives for the cooperation and friendship extended to him during his tenure. He also conveyed Singapore’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations and friendship between the two countries.
Minister Iruthisham said the Government of Maldives attaches importance to advancing relations with Singapore. She extended her best wishes to High Commissioner Leng in his future endeavours and expressed support and cooperation for the incoming Non-Resident High Commissioner of Singapore.
