The road leading to Terminal 2 at Velana International Airport (VIA) will be closed overnight from 7 to 12 June to facilitate maintenance works, the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has announced.
According to MTCC, the road will be closed daily between 12:00am and 4:00am throughout the maintenance period.
As a result, passengers using the R3, R4 and R9 bus services will be dropped off and picked up at the cycle parking area near the airport entrance, instead of the usual stop adjacent to Terminal 2. The temporary arrangement will remain in place for the duration of the works.
MTCC said the adjustment is required to support ongoing maintenance activities in the area and ensure operational safety during the works.
Terminal 2 at Velana International Airport, formerly the main international terminal, was redesignated as the domestic terminal following the opening of Terminal 1. Since then, the facility has undergone maintenance and refurbishment works as part of wider airport redevelopment efforts.
