Applications Open for Tourism, Fisheries and Construction Advisory Bodies

The President’s Office has opened applications for three newly established advisory committees intended to provide technical guidance and sector-specific consultation to the government, focusing on tourism, fisheries, and construction.

According to the President’s Office, the Tourism Sector Advisory Committee, Fisheries Sector Advisory Committee, and Construction Sector Advisory Committee have been formed to support policy development and long-term planning across sectors that play a central role in the Maldivian economy. Tourism remains the country’s largest source of income, while fisheries and construction together employ a significant share of the workforce.

The tourism committee will comprise a representative from private sector tourism companies, a scientific or technical expert in tourism, and a representative from a civil society organisation linked to the industry. Its role includes identifying constraints to sector growth, advising on policy reforms, aligning tourism development with global trends, recommending investment incentives, and providing guidance on strategic partnerships.

The fisheries committee will bring together industry participants and technical expertise, including fishermen, boat owners, sailors, scientific or technical experts in fisheries and mariculture, and representatives from private sector fisheries companies. The committee is tasked with advising on the development of fisheries and mariculture, responding to global industry shifts, supporting diversification and technological adoption, and guiding the establishment of quality assurance systems for fisheries products.

The construction committee will include members from construction-related associations, along with experts in civil or structural engineering, architecture, and quantity surveying. Its mandate centres on advising the government on regulatory strengthening within the construction sector and recommending incentive mechanisms to attract both domestic and foreign investment.

Applications for all three committees are open until 12:00 p.m. on Monday, 16 February 2026. Application forms can be submitted to the President’s Office on official working days between 08:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Forms are available from the President’s Office reception and can also be downloaded from its website.
