Barceló Hotel Group has expanded its presence in the Maldives with the opening of Barceló Nasandhura Malé, the first five-star hotel in the capital city. Situated on the seafront with unobstructed views of the Indian Ocean, the newly opened city hotel offers 136 elegant rooms, 116 designer apartments, and premium office spaces.
This marks the group’s second opening in the Maldives, following the launch of Barceló Whale Lagoon Maldives last year, and strengthens its growing footprint across Asia, where it now operates in six countries.
Located directly opposite the Henveiru Ferry Terminal and a ten-minute drive from Velana International Airport, Barceló Nasandhura Malé provides guests with a prime location in the heart of the city. The property promises a blend of tranquillity and elegance, pairing urban living with panoramic views of turquoise waters.
The hotel’s culinary offering features three restaurants, a snack bar, and a shisha lounge. Alimas, located on the ground floor, serves as the lounge café; Oivaru provides an all-day buffet-style dining experience; Dons specialises in Chinese cuisine; and BHeaven, the rooftop bar and lounge, offers signature mocktails alongside a shisha area. Guests can also enjoy the Pool Bar, which accompanies the city’s first and only oceanfront swimming pool.
Barceló Nasandhura Malé includes an expansive wellness area featuring a spa with six luxurious treatment rooms, and a fully equipped fitness centre offering sea views. The hotel also offers over 1,000 square metres of facilities for meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions, positioning it as a key venue for corporate events in Malé.
The opening of Barceló Nasandhura Malé reaffirms Barceló Hotel Group’s commitment to growth in Asia, where it now manages 11 hotels across the Maldives, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, the UAE, and Oman. The group’s first property in the Maldives, Barceló Whale Lagoon Maldives, is a five-star resort located in the South Ari Atoll and is celebrated for its proximity to the renowned South Ari Marine Protected Area, making it a popular choice for diving enthusiasts.
Founded in Mallorca in 1931, Barceló Hotel Group is today one of Europe’s leading tourism groups and one of the 30 largest hotel chains in the world. With more than 300 hotels and over 65,000 rooms across 28 countries, the group is committed to regenerative tourism through its Barceló ReGen sustainability strategy.
