British High Commission Supports MACL with First Aid Training Gear

The British High Commission in Malé has donated First Aid Training equipment to Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) as part of efforts to strengthen emergency preparedness at the country’s main gateway.

The contribution is part of the UK Government’s Protective Security & Attack Response Program (PSARP), which is being implemented across the Maldives to improve public safety and emergency response capabilities. The equipment will enable MACL’s frontline staff to provide lifesaving first aid in critical situations, benefiting both the estimated 125,000 British tourists who visit the Maldives annually and the wider public.

The equipment was formally handed over to MACL’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed. According to MACL, the donation supports its commitment to ensuring staff are trained and equipped to respond effectively to emergencies.

The initiative builds on the existing UK-Maldives security partnership, which has included joint emergency response exercises such as ‘Amaan Asseyri’ held in May 2025. It also aligns with wider cooperation discussed during the Second UK-Maldives Strategic Dialogue earlier this year, where both countries reaffirmed their shared commitment to regional security and threat prevention.
