Commitment to Stronger Regional Cooperation as Foreign Minister Meets Sri Lanka President

Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Abdulla Khaleel met with the President of Sri Lanka, Anura Kumara Dissanayaka, during a courtesy call held as part of the Sri Lankan leader’s State Visit to the Maldives.

Welcoming President Dissanayaka and his delegation, Dr Khaleel extended best wishes on behalf of the Maldivian Government and expressed appreciation for choosing the Maldives as the destination for his first official visit abroad since assuming office. He also reaffirmed the Maldives’ commitment to enhancing the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

The Sri Lankan President, in response, reiterated his government’s intention to continue building on the close bilateral relationship. He expressed interest in expanding cooperation across a wide range of areas of mutual benefit.

Minister Khaleel was joined in the meeting by Masood Imad, the Maldivian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, and Fathimath Inaya, Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The visit marks a continued effort by both nations to strengthen regional ties and collaboration, building on decades of diplomatic engagement and people-to-people connections.
