COMO Hotels and Resorts has announced the appointment of Peter Nilsson as the new Managing Director for its Maldivian properties, COMO Cocoa Island and COMO Maalifushi. With over 30 years of experience in luxury hospitality, Nilsson brings a wealth of expertise to his new role, where he will oversee operations to ensure a seamless guest experience across both resorts.
Nilsson, a seasoned hotelier from Sweden, is well-acquainted with the Maldives and the luxury travel industry. His impressive career includes leadership positions with globally renowned brands such as Ritz-Carlton, Soneva, Six Senses, Conrad, and Anantara. Prior to joining COMO, he served as the Chief Executive Officer at Banwa Private Island, a prestigious estate in the Philippines.
Located in the serene South Malé and Thaa Atolls, COMO Cocoa Island and COMO Maalifushi are known for their distinctive luxury offerings. COMO Cocoa Island, featuring 33 overwater villas, is celebrated for its tranquil ambience and commitment to sustainability. Meanwhile, COMO Maalifushi, the only resort in the unspoilt Thaa Atoll, offers a mix of 59 overwater and beachfront accommodations along with various recreational activities such as diving, surfing, and fly fishing.
Nilsson’s appointment is set to drive strategic growth, optimise resources, and foster team engagement, all while upholding the high standards of the COMO brand. The resorts’ renowned COMO Shambhala wellness programmes, which include yoga, holistic treatments, and fitness facilities, will continue to be a central focus under his leadership.
