Minister of Defence, Mariya Didi has paid a courtesy call on Australia’s Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant General Angus Campbell at the Australian Ministry of Defence head office.
During the meeting, both the Defence Minister and Lieutenant General Angus held discussions on the existing bilateral relations and explored expanding the cooperation between the two countries especially in the field of counter-terrorism and counter-radicalization.
They further discussed ways to strengthen the military force in both countries and initiatives that can be done to create the maximum results.
During her official visit to Australia, the Defence Minister also paid a visit to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSAR) where she had a meeting with AMSAR’s CEO Mick Kinley and Dr. Alison Sonneveld responsible for International Engagement.
The Defence Minister and AMSAR CEO discussed a range of issues of mutual interest including Maritime Search and Rescue (SAR), the International Maritime Organization (IMO), ship safety, pollution preparedness and response, and the role of women in Maritime.
