Dhiraagu Extends Internet Support to State Care Facilities Across the Maldives

Dhiraagu has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting vulnerable children and victims of domestic abuse under state care by extending high-speed internet services to Amaan Veshi and Amaan Hiya facilities nationwide. These centers, overseen by the Ministry of Social and Family Development, provide alternative care homes and temporary shelters for children without parental care and survivors of domestic violence.

The initiative, part of Dhiraagu’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, ensures Fibre Broadband connectivity across 10 Family and Children’s Service Centres (FCSCs) located in key islands, including B. Eydhafushi, Sh. Funadhoo, and HA. Dhidhdhoo. Facilities in Dh. Kudahuvadhoo, L. Fonadhoo, N. Manadhoo, Lh. Naifaru, Fuvahmulah City, Kulhudhuffushi City, and Addu City will also benefit.

By delivering high-speed internet, Dhiraagu aims to enhance digital literacy and support the educational needs of children residing in these shelters. This initiative builds on years of consistent support from the company, which has provided services to care facilities such as Kuda Kudhinge Hiyaa in Vilimalé.

“Supporting children and young people has always been a key focus of our CSR efforts. With this renewed commitment, we hope to empower children under state care to access digital learning tools and bridge the digital divide,” Dhiraagu stated in their press release.

The company’s broader CSR agenda includes year-round collaborations with NGOs and programmes aimed at empowering young people. By addressing the digital needs of vulnerable communities, Dhiraagu continues to play a vital role in fostering an inclusive and digitally connected Maldives.
