Dhiraagu Fuvahmulah Run 2025 concluded on Friday in Fuvahmulah City, marking the first time the Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race (DMRR), has been held in the atolls. The race drew 1,112 participants across a range of categories, transforming the island city into a vibrant hub for community-driven sport and wellness.

Organised in partnership with Fuvahmulah City Council, the Women’s Development Committee of Fuvahmulah, and the Athletics Association of Maldives, the event featured 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon races. A total prize pool of MVR 232,000 was awarded across categories, including school divisions, with participants as young as under-13 competing.

Winners in the Half Marathon included Shifaz Mohamed and Aishath Jinanee Ibrahim, while Nizmeena Ahmed emerged victorious in both the 10K and 5K Open Female categories. The event also spotlighted local youth talent, with champions like Ahil Ibrahim Moosa and Aminath Raoom Ahmed Habeeb topping the under-13 races.

As the only international running event in the Maldives registered on the AIMS World Running Calendar and certified by World Athletics, the Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race continues to evolve in scope and reach. Its extension to Fuvahmulah underscores Dhiraagu’s commitment to promoting active lifestyles, supporting decentralised tourism, and showcasing the potential of island communities.

The company said the Fuvahmulah edition reflects a broader strategy to build a nationwide culture of inclusive running while enhancing the visibility of unique destinations like Fuvahmulah, the Maldives’ only island atoll.
