Dhiraagu has kicked off the Mobile Legends Mini Series I, marking the start of a sequence of esports tournaments scheduled throughout the year, each focusing on different games for the Maldivian gaming community.
The online registration for the Mobile Legends Mini Series I opened last week through Dhiraagu’s social media platforms and received an enthusiastic response from gamers across the nation. The climax of the tournament is set for 27 January 2024, with all matches being live-streamed on Dhiraagu’s YouTube and Facebook pages.
Naiya Shareef, Manager Brand & Events at Dhiraagu, commented on the potential of esports in the Maldives. “We believe that esports has great potential in the Maldives. As such, this tournament is an initiative to accelerate the growth of gaming as a sport in the country by providing opportunities for gamers to showcase their skills and ultimately build gaming communities for different online games,” she stated.
Mobile Legends, a widely popular multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game, has significantly influenced the mobile gaming landscape. Dhiraagu previously hosted the Mobile Legends Conquest 2023, one of the largest e-sports events in the Maldives, which boasted a prize pool of MVR 100,000.
Dhiraagu’s ongoing efforts to develop a robust esports ecosystem in the Maldives reflect their dedication to working alongside the local gaming community. The aim is to elevate Maldivian esports to new heights, providing platforms and opportunities for gamers to engage and compete in a rapidly growing global phenomenon.
