Dhiraagu Malé Open Swimming Competition Returns on 24 May 2025

More than 350 swimmers are set to dive into the waters off Rasfannu, Malé, as the Dhiraagu Malé Open Swimming Competition returns on 24 May 2025. Organised by Swim Maldives, the event is once again backed by Dhiraagu, in a continued effort to promote active lifestyles and strengthen youth engagement through sport.

The open water competition, which has grown steadily since its inception in 2019, reflects a broader national movement to reconnect with the ocean and encourage healthy living. For Dhiraagu, the event is more than just a sports partnership—it aligns with the company’s commitment to building stronger, more inclusive communities.

“This partnership reflects our commitment to promoting active lifestyles and embracing the growing passion for sea sports across the country,” said Mohamed Mirshan Hassan, Director of Brand and Marketing Communications at Dhiraagu. “Through mass participation events like this, we aim to create inclusive platforms and meaningful opportunities for youth and communities to stay active and healthy.”

Swim Maldives, the organisers of the event, expressed gratitude to Dhiraagu for its enduring support. “Their support has enabled us to bring our vision to life and provide a platform for swimmers of all ages to come together, compete, and grow,” said Hussain Shameem, President of Swim Maldives. “It also helps us raise greater awareness around swimming as a sport, as well as its link to health, fitness, and marine conservation.”

The competition will feature swimmers of varying skill levels, from young beginners to experienced athletes, reflecting the inclusive spirit of the event. Registration is now open via swimmaldives.org/male-open.

As Dhiraagu continues to support youth-focused initiatives, the upcoming event stands as a reminder of the power of community-driven efforts to promote well-being, ocean awareness, and national pride.
