Dhiraagu has partnered with Villa College to support the launch of the Maldives’ first business incubator programme for students, ‘VIgnite’. The initiative, led by Villa College’s Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development (CIED), aims to foster early-stage startups and provide entrepreneurs with mentorship, business development support, and access to resources.
As part of this partnership, Dhiraagu will provide high-speed digital connectivity to the incubator and financial support to its activities. The company’s professionals will also serve as mentors and advisors to participants, offering guidance on developing innovative business ideas.
Speaking about the collaboration, Dhiraagu’s CEO and MD, Ismail Rasheed, highlighted the company’s focus on supporting initiatives that empower local talent and encourage entrepreneurship in the Maldives. Dr Ahmed Anwar, Rector of Villa College, described the programme as an important step towards building an entrepreneurial ecosystem in the country, with Dhiraagu’s support playing a key role in its implementation.
While initially open to Villa College students and staff, the programme is expected to expand to include local schools, colleges, and communities, aiming to promote innovation and economic growth across the Maldives.
The initiative is supported by multiple industry partners, including Fenaka Corporation Limited, Women in Tech Maldives, Sparkhub, Business Centre Corporation (BCC), OXIQA Pvt Ltd, Kandufa Foundation, and Villa Shipping & Trading Company Pvt. Ltd.
