dusitD2 Feydhoo Maldives Opens Following Strategic Acquisition Through AWG Consulting

A new chapter has begun in Maldivian tourism with the official opening of dusitD2 Feydhoo Maldives, a resort developed on an island once used as a picnic spot and now transformed into a contemporary luxury retreat. The opening follows years of planning and development by the investors, that began with the acquisition and early groundwork facilitated by AWG Consulting.

The journey began in 2016, when AWG was engaged by Pearl Atoll, a Chinese-owned investment company looking to establish a foothold in the Maldives. The consultancy firm conducted a market analysis and feasibility study before identifying the Feydhoofinolhu site, located within the country’s core tourism zone and in close proximity to Velana International Airport.

At the time, securing such a strategically positioned property had become increasingly difficult. Feydhoofinolhu stood out due to its location and untapped commercial potential. Originally spanning 4.5 hectares, the island underwent reclamation to expand to around 10 hectares, paving the way for a resort of notable scale and ambition.

Operated under the dusitD2 brand, the newly opened property marks the brand’s latest entry into one of the Maldives’ most competitive tourism zones. The resort aims to blend modern design with laid-back island living, welcoming guests into a space that balances luxury with accessibility.

AWG played a central role during the early stages of the project, supporting the acquisition with property valuation, lease transfer management, and due diligence, and advising on the overall investment structure. The firm’s involvement highlights its position as a key player in facilitating foreign investment into the Maldivian resort sector.

With its opening, dusitD2 Feydhoo Maldives adds another dimension to the country’s dynamic tourism landscape, underscoring the appeal of strategic private sector partnerships in resort development.
