Fenaka Corporation has procured four new generator sets as part of efforts to improve electricity services in selected islands facing increased demand.
The new equipment includes three 600kW gensets and one 400kW genset. Two of the units have already been dispatched to their respective destinations, while clearance procedures are ongoing in Malé for the remaining two before shipment.
The 600kW genset allocated to L. Isdhoo and the 400kW genset destined for L. Dhanbidhoo have been loaded for transport and are expected to arrive tomorrow. The other two 600kW units, designated for B. Kendhoo and HA. Kelaa, are expected to be cleared and dispatched within the next two days.
According to the media brief, existing generators in these islands are currently being operated simultaneously to meet electricity demand. The addition of the new gensets is expected to ease operational pressure on current systems and improve the reliability and overall quality of electricity supply once installation is completed.
The procurement forms part of ongoing measures to strengthen generation capacity and address service constraints in outer islands.
