flydubai to Begin Cargo-in-Cabin Flights to Maldives

flydubai is set to commence a series of cargo flights from Dubai to Malé, marking the airline’s first use of cargo-in-cabin operations to Velana International Airport.

The flights, scheduled to begin on Thursday, will operate following approval from the Maldives Civil Aviation Authority earlier this week. The operations are being facilitated locally by Ace Aviation Services Maldives.

Cargo-in-cabin flights involve transporting freight within the passenger cabin, including on seats and in overhead compartments, in addition to the aircraft’s standard cargo hold. The approach allows airlines to increase cargo capacity, particularly during periods of disruption to conventional supply chains.

The introduction of these flights comes amid ongoing instability in the Middle East, which has affected regional logistics and air connectivity. By expanding cargo capacity, the flights are expected to support the movement of goods into the Maldives during a period of constrained supply routes.

The move reflects continued pressure on global freight networks and the need for more flexible logistics arrangements to maintain the flow of imports.
