Five regional hospitals in Maldives are under the process of being upgraded to tertiary levels as per the Minister of Health Honorable Abdulla Ameen. He said this during a press conference held at the President’s Office on 16th June 2019.
In order to carry out this project, the Ministry has set a budget of MVR 480 million and revealed that they plan to conclude the project by July 2019. The Minister also spoke of their plans to upgrade 9 health centres to hospitals in 9 islands. He also added that efficient ambulance services were also underway development.
The five hospitals being developed to tertiary level are; Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital, Abdul Samad Memorial Hospital, Gan Regional Hospital, Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital and Hithadhoo Regional Hospital.
