The Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Welfare, in collaboration with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), has announced the launch of the ‘Dhan’duveri Manfaa’ Matching Grant Programme to the public today.
The grant programme, with an allocated budget of 15.1 million Rufiyaa, aims to provide financial assistance to sustainably enhance climate-smart agricultural production in the designated project regions. This initiative is part of a broader effort to promote sustainable agriculture and support farmers in adopting practices that mitigate the impacts of climate change.
An information session was held for vendors registered with the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Welfare’s Agricultural Promotion (MAP) initiative. The session aimed to inform potential vendors and suppliers about the programme and its requirements. MAP is actively seeking to establish a registry of vendors or suppliers capable of meeting the needs of farmers engaged in climate-smart agricultural production. This preparatory step is designed to ensure the successful implementation of the Matching Grant Programme.
The ‘Dhan’duveri Manfaa’ Matching Grant Programme represents a significant effort by the Ministry and IFAD to bolster sustainable agricultural practices in the Maldives. By providing financial support and fostering a network of capable vendors, the programme aims to improve agricultural productivity and resilience in the face of climate challenges.
