The Economic Ministry has announced that applications are now open for participation in the forthcoming trade and investment conference between the Maldives and China’s Sichuan province. The announcement, made on Wednesday via the government gazette, details that a six-member delegation from Sichuan will visit the Maldives in August.
The visit aims to strengthen trade and investment ties between the Maldives and Sichuan province. The China (Sichuan) Maldives Trade and Investment Conference is scheduled for 6th August, according to the Ministry.
Leading the Chinese delegation will be the Vice Chairperson of the Sichuan Provincial People’s Congress. The conference will also host representatives from various Maldivian businesses, providing a unique opportunity for collaboration and networking.
Key sectors to be represented at the conference include:
• Agriculture
• Fruit and vegetable supply
• Food production, processing, export, and supply
• Consumer goods and wholesale
• Tourism
The Economic Ministry noted that participants would have the opportunity to engage directly with Sichuan businesses, facilitating the establishment of new partnerships and the strengthening of existing ones.
Applications for interested individuals and businesses must be submitted by 14:00 on 18th July.
This conference illustrates the administration’s ongoing efforts to fortify economic ties with China, highlighting a strategic push to enhance bilateral trade and investment opportunities.
