Gov’t to Mobilise State-Run Companies to Complete Delayed Projects

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to resuming and completing stalled development projects across the Maldives, with a focus on utilising state-owned enterprises to ensure their completion. Speaking to residents of Uligamu, he highlighted the importance of these initiatives in supporting national development and improving public services.

During his address, President Muizzu noted that numerous projects in Uligamu and other parts of the country had been halted due to various challenges. He assured residents that the government is actively working to mobilise state-run companies to restart and complete these delayed projects.

As part of development efforts in Uligamu, the President announced that construction of a yacht marina would begin in February, along with the installation of a buoy for sports fishing, which is expected to benefit the local community. He also emphasised the need to enhance healthcare services in the island and revealed that the project would be handed over to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) next month. During his visit, he toured the Uligamu Health Centre and met with staff to understand the challenges they face in delivering healthcare services.

In a further move to improve access to financial services, the President witnessed the signing of an agreement between the Bank of Maldives and the Uligamu Island Council to establish ATM services on the island.

President Muizzu’s visit to Uligamu is seen as part of his broader efforts to engage directly with communities and address their concerns as the government advances its development agenda.
