The newly appointed High Commissioner of India to the Maldives, G. Balasubramanian, presented his Letters of Credence to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu in a formal ceremony on Monday morning at the President’s Office.
The High Commissioner was escorted to the President’s Office in a cultural procession known as Haiykolhu, accompanied by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band.
Following the ceremony, the Indian High Commissioner conveyed greetings from the Prime Minister of India, His Excellency Narendra Modi, and the Minister of External Affairs, His Excellency Dr S. Jaishankar. The two leaders then engaged in discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation between India and the Maldives.
The two leaders discussed various matters of mutual interest, including ongoing development cooperation, ongoing projects by the Indian government in the Maldives, and opportunities for increasing investments in key sectors. They also highlighted the importance of strengthening people-to-people ties between the two countries.
The meeting concluded with mutual assurances to further the partnership between the two countries.
