Gadhdhoo Council has announced exciting investment opportunities on the uninhabited island of Gan, located in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll. Both Maldivian and international companies have been invited to submit Letters of Expression (LOEs) by April 30, 2025, to participate in development projects across a range of sectors.
Currently managed by the Gadhdhoo Council and integrated into the broader Gadhdhoo land use plan, Gan Island presents diverse possibilities for potential investors. Proposed project areas include tourism-related developments, initiatives focused on agriculture and fisheries, production and manufacturing ventures, and research-based programmes.
Companies shortlisted from the initial LOE submissions will subsequently receive invitations to present comprehensive bids detailing their project proposals. This structured approach aims to ensure transparency and competitiveness, attracting well-planned, sustainable, and innovative ventures.
Strategically located just a five-minute journey from the inhabited island of Gadhdhoo, Gan currently serves local communities primarily for agricultural purposes. With its advantageous position and untapped resources, Gan Island presents significant potential to bolster the local economy, diversify investment avenues, and create employment opportunities in the region.
Through this initiative, Gadhdhoo Council aims to stimulate economic growth in the atoll, fostering sustainable development and harnessing the island’s full potential to benefit both investors and the local community.
