Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) hosted a high-profile stakeholder event, bringing together leaders from the aviation, tourism, and maritime sectors. The event highlighted the shared success of these industries and their critical role in the Maldives’ tourism-driven economy.
The gathering, held at Velana International Airport, was attended by key representatives from the Ministry of Tourism, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO), Maldives Association of Travel Industry (MATI), National Boating Association of Maldives (NBAM), and Maldives Yacht Association (MAYA), alongside airline representatives and MACL’s senior management.
Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, CEO and Managing Director of MACL, underscored the importance of the Maldives nearing its milestone of welcoming the two-millionth tourist by the end of 2024. He noted the vital role of industry partners in achieving this target and emphasised ongoing efforts to enhance connectivity by introducing new airlines, routes, and expanded cargo services.
He also outlined future plans to improve operational efficiency and customer experience through infrastructure upgrades and the integration of new technological solutions to streamline airport operations.
Acknowledging the collaborative efforts of stakeholders, Shareef expressed gratitude for their dedication to the growth of air service development and tourism in the Maldives.
