MACL’s sponsorship of the conference underscores its role as a key stakeholder in the tourism industry and its commitment to supporting gender equality and the empowerment of women in the sector. The company’s involvement in the conference is part of its broader efforts to promote these goals.

Mahamooda Shareef, Senior General Manager of MACL’s Aerodrome Management Services, noted that while women are increasingly involved in engineering and airfield management roles, their presence in leadership positions remains limited. She highlighted MACL’s ongoing initiatives to empower women in these fields, including efforts to appoint women to various leadership roles within the organisation.

The Maldives Travel Conference 2024 – Women’s Edition received endorsement from several prominent organisations, including the Ministry of Tourism, Women in Management, Women on Boards, and the Women Entrepreneurs Association – Maldives (WEAM). The event provided a platform for discussing and addressing the challenges faced by women in the tourism industry and for promoting greater gender inclusivity across the sector.
