Maldives and India Reiterate Commitment to Strong Partnership Ahead of PM Visit

The Vice President of the Maldives, Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef, received the High Commissioner of India, His Excellency G. Balasubramanian, for a courtesy call at the President’s Office earlier today. The meeting served to reaffirm the enduring partnership between the Maldives and India, rooted in mutual respect and longstanding cooperation.

Both parties reflected on the deep ties shaped by shared values and common interests. The Vice President and the High Commissioner also highlighted the importance of people-to-people connections, describing them as the foundation of the bilateral relationship.

Concluding the meeting, Vice President Latheef conveyed the Maldivian Government’s continued commitment to engage meaningfully with India. He noted the importance of maintaining a relationship built on understanding and mutual respect in all areas of cooperation.

The diplomatic engagement comes ahead of the upcoming State Visit of Indian Prime Minister His Excellency Shri Narendra Modi, scheduled to take place from 25 to 26 July 2025.
