The Maldives and the United States have signed the fourteenth amendment to the Development Objective Grant Agreement (DOAG) today, further solidifying their development cooperation.
The signing ceremony, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, saw the amendment signed by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sheryna Abdul Samad, representing the Government of the Republic of Maldives, and USAID Mission Director, Gabriel Grau, representing the Government of the United States of America.
The DOAG is a landmark agreement between the Maldives and the United States, aimed at strengthening the Maldives’ technical capacity in managing public finances and enhancing the resilience of the country’s economic and democratic governance. Over the years, the funding allocated through this agreement has seen gradual increases. With this latest amendment, the United States Government has committed an additional USD 8.5 million to the Maldives, raising the total value of the agreement to USD 45.7 million.
The signing ceremony was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the USAID Mission to the Maldives, highlighting the continued commitment of both nations to this important partnership.
This amendment demonstrates the ongoing efforts to support the Maldives in achieving sustainable development goals and fortifying its governance structures, reflecting the strong bilateral relations between the two countries.
