Maldives Celebrates 30 Awards at SATA 2024, Earns “Leading Beach Destination” Title

The Maldives has achieved notable success at the 8th edition of the South Asian Travel Awards (SATA), taking home 30 awards. The awards, which celebrate excellence in the hospitality and tourism sectors across South Asia, were presented during a ceremony held in Kathmandu, Nepal, on Friday.

Among the accolades received, the Maldives was awarded the “Leading Beach Destination” title, a recognition of the country’s globally renowned beaches. In total, the Maldives won 15 gold and 14 silver awards, acknowledging its resorts, hotels, and tourism services.

Established in 2016, the SATA awards celebrate excellence in the tourism industry across South Asia. This year, the event featured 144 categories, with a total of 51 gold and 93 silver awards distributed. More than 400 nominations were submitted from competing nations, including Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, and India.
