The Government of Maldives has launched a new national brand, “From Maldives”, aimed at promoting the country’s fisheries products on the international stage. The launch event was held in London on 17 July 2025 and was officiated by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
According to the Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources, the new brand is intended to improve the global positioning of Maldivian seafood by highlighting sustainability, quality, and traceability. The branding incorporates design elements inspired by the traditional Maldivian fishing vessel, marine life textures, and national identity, alongside the slogan “The Ocean’s Finest”.
The government says the initiative goes beyond marketing. As part of a broader reform strategy, the Maldives is scaling up its processing capacity, upgrading cold storage infrastructure, and modernising its fishing fleet with energy-efficient vessels and digital monitoring tools. These efforts are expected to improve catch quality and traceability and align exports with the preferences of sustainability-conscious markets.
The “From Maldives” brand is part of the administration’s goal to derive more value from marine resources and foster a resilient blue economy. It also reflects efforts to support inclusive economic growth by strengthening coastal livelihoods and creating opportunities in fisheries-related industries.
The brand will be managed by the Maldives Fisheries and Ocean Resources Marketing and Promotion Corporation, a dedicated entity established to lead the promotion of Maldivian seafood products internationally.
