Maldives takes part in the discussions held during the China-South Asia Corporation Forum. The forum which addressed business related challenges in the region was held in the Yunan province of China, where all South Asian countries except for Bhutan participated. Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Mr. Adam Thaufeeq lead the Maldives contingent for the forum.
Three meetings were held in the China South Asia Corporation Forum which were held as part of the annual Kunming fair in China. The three meetings were China South Asia High Level Round Table Meeting, Financial Corporation Development Strategy Seminar and China South Asia Local Government Leaders Dialogue. Maldives took part in all three meetings.
Mr. Adam Thaufeeq addressed the China South Asia High Level Round Table meeting as a key note speaker. While speaking to local press, Mr. Thaufeeq highlighted the challenges Maldivians face while conducting business in the region, adding that discussions were carried out with neighboring countries to address and resolve these challenges.
The Deputy Minister also mentioned that the forum paved way for future business with the participating countries and that important steps will be taken because of the forum which will greatly strengthen the industry.
