The Maldives took part in the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Annual General Meeting and Annual Summit held from 21 to 23 April in Istanbul, Turkey. Represented by officials from the Ministry of Tourism, the Maldives joined global tourism experts to explore strategies aimed at enhancing sustainability, innovation, and inclusion within the sector.
According to the Ministry, the sessions focused on data-driven strategies to boost tourism demand and improve visitor experiences. Participation in such international gatherings is seen as an important opportunity for the Maldives to acquire insights and best practices that can be applied to further the development of its tourism industry.
This year’s PATA Annual Summit was held under the theme “Timeless Wisdom for a Sustainable Future,” highlighting how enduring cultural knowledge and sustainable approaches can help shape the future of tourism. The Maldives’ involvement in discussions on global trends and challenges is expected to contribute to the continued growth and resilience of the island nation’s tourism sector.
