Maldives Recognised for Youth-Led Sustainability Innovation at ADSW

The opening ceremony featured the Zayed Sustainability Prize awards, which recognise global contributions to sustainable development across sectors including education, health, energy, food, and water.

At this year’s ceremony, Faafu Atoll Education Centre was announced as a winner in the Global High Schools Category for South Asia. The recognition marked a notable achievement for the Maldives and drew attention to the role of youth-led innovation in sustainability efforts.

The award recognised the school’s student-led project integrating solar and wind energy, rainwater harvesting, sustainable farming practices, hydroponics-based innovation, and improved water management. The initiative aims to support food security, public health, and environmental protection at the community level.

The Maldives’ participation at Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week reflected its ongoing focus on sustainability, climate action, and education-driven innovation.
