National carrier Maldivian has announced a significant expansion of its domestic and international flight schedule to meet the seasonal surge in demand during the school holiday period.
The airline will operate additional flights to 16 domestic destinations across the Maldives and to two cities in India between 22 June and 9 August. The move is part of Maldivian’s annual efforts to accommodate travellers heading out for leisure, family visits, and medical appointments during the mid-year break.
Additional domestic flights will cover key regional airports such as Gan, Fuvahmulah City, Kulhudhuffushi City, and Maafaru, among others. According to the published schedule, routes will be increased almost daily from 22 July through to 9 August, with multiple islands receiving enhanced connectivity.
Internationally, Maldivian will operate extra services to Trivandrum and Cochin in India, which are popular destinations for medical treatment and shopping. The airline has scheduled these additional flights on six dates: 25, 27, and 30 July, and 3, 8, and 10 August.
Maldivian’s fleet, currently standing at 25 aircraft, includes a wide-body Airbus A330 and a narrow-body Airbus A320 for international routes, alongside a mix of ATRs, Dash-8s, and Twin Otters for domestic operations. The airline has consistently increased its frequency during major holiday periods, providing added convenience for passengers travelling within the country and abroad.
The expanded flight schedule reflects not only growing demand but also the airline’s role in maintaining vital connectivity across the island nation and with key regional partners.
