Maldivian, the national airline of the Maldives, has launched a series of direct flights to Jeddah this month, aimed at easing travel for Maldivian pilgrims performing Umrah.
A total of three non-stop flights will be operated in July, transporting more than 750 passengers directly to Saudi Arabia. The first of these flights is scheduled for 22 July and marks Maldivian’s first-ever Umrah flight in partnership with Al Musafir Hajj & Umrah (The Traveller), expanding the airline’s collaboration with private travel organisers.
The remaining two flights are being coordinated with the Maldives Hajj Corporation, which has been a long-standing partner in organising pilgrimage travel for Maldivians. The Corporation also facilitated Hajj flights earlier this year.
According to the airline, these special Umrah flights will be operated primarily by Maldivian crew to ensure greater comfort and familiarity for local travellers. The initiative reflects Maldivian’s broader efforts to provide safe, reliable, and culturally attuned services for religious travel.
With these flights, Maldivian adds a new dimension to its international operations, reinforcing its role in connecting Maldivians with key global destinations for both personal and spiritual journeys.
