Maldivian has announced it will resume direct flights between Malé and Dhaka from 12 March 2026, responding to strong demand from local travellers and the expatriate community, and restoring a key air link between the Maldives and Bangladesh.
The twice-weekly service will operate on Thursdays and Sundays, with early morning arrivals into Dhaka, allowing passengers to continue onward travel conveniently, the airline said. The resumption aligns with the travel period towards the end of Ramadan, supporting Eid al-Fitr plans for both local residents and expatriates returning to Bangladesh, as well as Bangladeshi tourists visiting the Maldives.
According to Maldivian, beyond the seasonal peak, the service will provide year-round connectivity, offering consistent travel options between the two capitals. Return fares start from USD 399, including a 30kg checked baggage allowance and meal service. Ticket sales opened on Thursday.
“Dhaka continues to be an important destination for local travellers for business, short visits and regional connections, while also serving the travel needs of a significant expatriate population living and working in the Maldives. The return of direct flights strengthens regional connectivity and provides a convenient, non-stop travel option between the two capitals,” Maldivian said.
To celebrate the relaunch, Maldivian will host the “Dhaka, We Heard You” Music Festival on 9 January 2026, a community-focused event for the expatriate community that highlights the cultural ties between the Maldives and Bangladesh.
Tickets are available via the Maldivian website, Maldivian Mobile App, by emailing cc@iasl.aero, or through the Maldivian Call Centre on 1671.
