Manta Air has announced to fly to Baa Atoll Dharavandhoo which is known as the home of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Along with the announcement, they have also introduced a special promotional fare for passengers traveling between Male’ to Dharavandhoo on 11th April to 18th April to celebrate the start of the new journey.
The special fare only applicable for locals and work permit holders, costs MVR 499 (one-way) for adults and MVR 246 (one-way) for children. After the second week of operations, Manta Air schedules to have 3 direct daily flights between Dharavandhoo and Velana International Airport providing 21 flights weekly. The airline is also in the process of acquiring Twin Otter seaplanes in order to launch its seaplane service in the second quarter of 2019.
Manta Air was founded in 2016 as a joint venture between Deep Blue Private Limited, a local company with multiple investments in tourism, and tourism pioneer Umar Mohamed Maniku. The company was created to cater to the need for more air travel options and to support the rapid developments in the aviation industry in light of the development of new airports and the fast-paced expansion of resorts and guesthouses across the country.
