President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed Mariyam Muna as the President and Dr Ahmed Adham Abdulla as the Vice President of the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM).
President Solih appointed them to the HRCM under the powers vested in him by Section 8 of the Human Rights Commission Act (Act 6/2006).
Mariyam Muna attained her Master of Business Administration from Edith Cowan University, Australia. She was a member of HRCM prior to this appointment and has previous work experience in a variety of jobs, including the post of Corporate Secretary in Asia Shipping and International Trading and other high-level posts in government and non-governmental organizations.
Dr Ahmed Adham Abdulla holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Law (International Law) from the University of Wollongong, Australia. He previously served as a lecturer in public international law at Villa College. He is also a recipient of the President’s Award for Achieving the Highest Academic Qualification and of the Australia Leadership Award. He was a member of HRCM prior to this appointment.
