Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has announced that minibus services will begin in 3 atolls: Addu City, Fuvahmulah City and Laamu atoll this July.
According to MTCC, 34 vehicles will be specialised for service in these atolls and minibuses with a capacity of 20 – 25 passengers will be used. These vehicles are also designed for easy access and travel for people with disabilities. The decision to use minibuses were based on the size of the roads of these islands.
MTCC further stated that 2 of the buses will be used for the service between Isdhoo and Kalaidhoo, 7 buses will be used in Gan, 5 buses will be used in Fuvahmulah City, 6 buses in Hulhumeedhoo and 14 buses will be used in Feydhoo.
Currently, MTCC is working on establishing bus stops and training recruits for the services in these 3 atolls.
