The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) and the National Hotel and Guesthouse Association of Maldives (NHGAM) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance the promotion of the Maldives as a premier tourist destination. The MOU was signed at a ceremony held at MMPRC Headquarters on 28th July 2024 by MMPRC’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Mr. Ibrahim Shiuree, and NHGAM’s Vice President, Ahmed Waheed.
The collaboration aims to amplify the appeal of the Maldives in emerging markets and strengthen local tourism. Mr. Shiuree expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We are excited to strengthen our collaboration with NHGAM to tap into emerging markets. By working closely with industry partners such as NHGAM, we aim to further enhance our offerings and attract more travellers to the Maldives.”
Under the agreement, NHGAM will support MMPRC’s marketing efforts and assist in participant recruitment for various events, including the Asian Tourism Fair (ATF) 2024. This event is crucial for networking, partnership building, and cultural exchange among governments, businesses, and development agencies across Asia. This year’s ATF will coincide with World Tourism Day, adding further prestige to the event.
The partnership between MMPRC and NHGAM is expected to significantly boost tourist arrivals and contribute to the growth of the Maldives’ tourism industry. This collaboration underscores the Maldives’ position as a leading global tourist destination and is anticipated to enhance the country’s appeal in major markets.
