The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has demonstrated its commitment to supporting local tourism by holding its first board meeting of 2025 in Aa. Ukulhas. This decision highlights the importance of community-level collaboration in advancing the nation’s tourism sector.
The meeting was led by MMPRC’s Managing Director, Ibrahim Shiuree, and Chairman, Abdullah Ghiyas Riyaz, alongside the corporation’s board of directors. The delegation received a warm welcome from the Ukulhas Council, reflecting the island community’s pride in hosting this significant event.
Ukulhas, recognised as a thriving hub for local tourism in the Maldives, served as an ideal location for the meeting. MMPRC representatives engaged with the island’s council and key local tourism stakeholders during their visit to address challenges and explore opportunities within the sector. These discussions align with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s vision of fostering local tourism as a cornerstone of the country’s economic development.
“This meeting represents our commitment to supporting local tourism,” said MMPRC Managing Director Ibrahim Shiuree. He emphasised the value of collaboration with stakeholders at all levels to promote inclusive growth within the industry.
By choosing Ukulhas for its first board meeting of the year, MMPRC highlighted the island’s vital role in the local tourism landscape. The decision also reflects the corporation’s dedication to building partnerships with grassroots operators and addressing the unique needs of community-driven tourism initiatives.
As the Maldives continues to strengthen its position as a global tourist destination, such initiatives by MMPRC aim to ensure that the benefits of tourism extend to communities at the core of the industry.
