The “Welcome India” Roadshow series, a collaborative initiative between the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), the Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO), and the National Hotel and Guesthouse Association of Maldives (NHGAM), concluded successfully on 3 August 2024. This event, which spanned New Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore, aimed to reinforce the Maldives’ position as a premier holiday destination for Indian travellers.

India remains a cornerstone market for the Maldives tourism industry. The roadshow provided a crucial platform to engage with key travel trade stakeholders and media. MMPRC actively promoted the Maldives, highlighting its pristine beaches, exquisite resorts, guesthouses, rich cultural heritage, and vibrant marine life. The event featured B2B networking and dialogue with collaborating organisations. Each roadshow concluded with a raffle giveaway, awarding holiday prizes sponsored by Kandima Maldives, Nova Maldives, Arena Hotels, Kaani Hotels, Villa Nautica, Sirru Fen Fushi, Holiday Inn Kandooma, and Alila Kothaifaru Maldives.

The response from the Indian travel industry was overwhelmingly positive, reaffirming the Maldives as a preferred holiday destination. The roadshow fostered new partnerships and strengthened existing ties between the Maldivian and Indian travel trade, promoting the Maldives’ unique offerings to the Indian market.

Building on the momentum generated by the roadshow, MMPRC plans to implement strategic initiatives to increase arrivals from the Indian market. Upcoming events, such as the Globalspa campaign, joint marketing partnerships with Cleartrip and Pickyourtrail, and familiarisation trips, are expected to further solidify the Maldives’ position as a top destination for Indian travellers.
